Our beautiful son, Severin Grant Brenny was born a fraternal twin on September 23, 2002 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) -- a rare heart defect in which the left side of the heart doesn’t develop as it should. As a result of a post-operative infection, our Angel Severin passed into God's arms in Heaven on July 17, 2004.
There is Hope We have set up this website in Severin’s memory and bring awareness and information about Congenital Heart Defects (CHD’s). Congenital heart disease is one or more defects in the structure of the heart. For reasons not fully understood, about eight out of 1,000 babies will be born with a congenital heart defect. A heart defect once meant a shortened lifespan, but medical advances now offer the hope of a brighter future. Most children born with Congenital Heart Defects are now expected to survive into adulthood and beyond. We wanted to let parents know about the wonderful resources and options in medical treatments that can help children diagnosed with CHD’s.
We honor Severin, and all the children who are afflicted with CHD’s. Help us bring more attention and resources for CHD’s. Learn more about the “A Day for Hearts” effort which helps raise awareness for CHD’s.
